Beyond Greyhaven: Roads, Choices, and Consequences
September 27–October 1: Linked authored wilderness regions and made choices matter through a persistent Road Bandit encounter, improved RPG combat and dialogue.

Leaving Greyhaven became a more continuous journey as we connected forest boundaries, refined transitions and tested routes through the northern woods. We also moved from potentially unbounded procedural expansion to fixed, authored wilderness maps, so each road and clearing can support intentional encounters and story details.
Decisions began to carry beyond a single conversation. The Road Bandit approaches on the road, demands a toll and can lead the traveler into dialogue or combat. His encounter outcome is stored in world memory: resolved paths such as paying, intimidating, fleeing, sparing or killing prevent an ordinary return trip from restarting the same encounter. This is a foundation for a world that remembers what the player did.
Combat and quest systems grew alongside the world: shared hit, dodge and damage calculations, a compact item hotbar, clearer quest feedback and a scrollable conversation history. The Road Bandit is an early example of those pieces working together—story choices, battle rules and persistence all affect a single meeting.
Music for town, inn and forest regions—and a consistent set of fantasy sound effects—began giving these locations their own atmosphere. The small navigation, UI and audio commits serve one larger milestone: a connected world that responds to what the player does.
