How far dare you go before the light runs out?

The Loop
Last Light is an atmospheric survival and exploration game built around a single, tense decision, repeated over and over: how far do you push into the dark before you turn back?
You begin each expedition at the safety of a portal. Beyond it lies a procedurally generated world of wilderness, hostile creatures, forgotten sites, and buried relics. Your light is a finite resource — the farther you travel, the more you spend, and the longer the road home becomes.
Every discovery is a gamble against the dark. Return with what you have found, or press on and risk never coming back.
Light is your lifeline and your currency. Distance spends it. Plan every expedition around the journey back.
Each run unfolds across a procedurally generated world, so no two ventures into the dark are the same.
Uncover sites and relics scattered through the wilds — then decide whether the reward is worth the risk.
Hostile creatures roam beyond the portal. The deeper you go, the less the light can protect you.

The World Beyond
Something stirs in the darkness. These entities—some forgotten, some newly awakened—guard the roads beyond the portal.

Carry the light.
No one remembers when the roads beyond the Last Light became unsafe. The Wanderer only remembers being told never to follow them. Armed with little more than scavenged gear and a lantern whose flame refuses to die, they step through the portal searching for what the darkness swallowed—and why it seems to recognize them.
Every journey takes them farther from the safety of the light. Ruined settlements, forgotten relics, and things that should have died generations ago wait beyond the glow. The Wanderer doesn't know what lies at the end of the road. Only that someone has to carry the light far enough to find out.

Ancient powers awaken.
The oldest ruins depict figures wearing branching crowns, standing beside doorways that no longer exist. Scholars once believed they were kings. They were wrong. They were guards.
The Crowned Watchers still wander near places the world has forgotten, their bodies sustained by whatever power they were sworn to protect. Strange blue fire gathers around them when travelers approach. They do not hunt for food, territory, or vengeance. They simply prevent anyone from reaching what lies beyond them—and after centuries of silence, something has begun calling the Watchers back to their posts.

Nature turns.
Before the darkness spread, hunters told stories of wolves that followed travelers without attacking, appearing whenever someone strayed too far from the road. Some believed they were guardians of the old forests. Whatever they once protected is gone.
Thorns now grow through flesh and bone, twisting the creatures into something neither animal nor plant. Their glowing eyes appear between the trees long before their bodies do. Briar Hounds rarely hunt alone, and wherever their packs gather, the forest soon becomes unnaturally dense—as though the wilderness itself is trying to reclaim the world.

From the depths.
Deep beneath the ruined settlements are tunnels no surviving map records. The Ash Diggers have been excavating them for longer than anyone knows.
Their bodies are scarred by heat, their clothing blackened by soot, and embers burn from wounds that never close. They drag fragments of the old world from beneath the earth and carry them deeper underground instead of toward the surface. No one knows what they're building—or what they're digging toward. But lately, travelers have begun hearing something beneath their feet: hundreds of picks striking stone in perfect rhythm.
