Every road leaves a mark.
A handcrafted top-down fantasy RPG built around exploration, character progression, tactical combat, and the people and places that make a small world feel alive.
The game
Ashen Road is a top-down fantasy RPG focused on grounded exploration, character progression, and a world that feels deliberately built rather than procedurally filled.
The journey begins around Greyhaven, a small settlement with its own residents, interiors, roads, wilderness, quests, and local stories. The game is being designed around direct touch-friendly movement, readable pixel-art environments, NPC interaction, equipment, inventory, and stat-driven combat.
Development is currently centered on turning the playable foundation into a complete RPG system: accuracy, dodge, attack and defense calculations, item use in combat, equipment slots, skills, dialogue, quest progression, and a world that expands naturally beyond Greyhaven.
Design pillars
Explore authored towns, roads, interiors, wilderness, landmarks, and story spaces built to reward curiosity and make each location feel intentional.
Stats, equipment, skills, inventory, accuracy, dodge, attack, and defense are being developed as one connected RPG progression system.
Named residents, rotating dialogue, story characters, and quests give the town its own identity instead of treating NPCs as scenery.
Movement, combat controls, menus, inventory, and the HUD are being shaped around a mobile-friendly interface without losing the feel of a traditional RPG.
Development updates will appear here as the project takes shape.
